Over half the Province is covered by forest, to the south of Montreal the land consists mainly of farms, whilst travelling north you are confronted by the Laurentian Mountains.
a considerable part of the Province is made up of rivers and lakes, not the least of which is the mighty St Lawrence river which forcefully makes its way north east bisecting the land as it passes through Montreal and Quebec on its way to the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the sea just north of the Gaspe Peninsula, here the trees and woods become large forest, and the weather is windy and cooler, the towns are much smaller and less frequent |
