 | Newfoundland Canada This rugged and weatherworn land sits to the north west of Quebec. It is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, here the conditions of the sea and the close proximity of the far north dictate the Newfoundland climate. It can be divided into five regions, Western, Central, Eastern, Avalon and Labrador. The weather is cool throughout the year especially in Labrador where the arctic currents and north winds prevail. Summers are very short. Newfoundland has over 1500kms of cross country hiking and coastal trails, you can vanish if you desire to do so, into this land of rare beauty confident with the knowledge that you are unlikely to see another human being for days if that is your wish, as the interior is mainly forested wilderness. Almost all the population live along the coast with its many fjords, here where the shore lines are often shrouded in fog, the fishing boats depart to search for cod salmon and many other kinds of fish in the abundantly bountiful waters |
